Twitter shows you “Followers you know” when looking at an account. Mastodon doesn’t, for a good reason. Your decision to follow someone shouldn’t depend on peer pressure.

For vulnerable groups this feature serves another purpose however: when dealing with toxic accounts, it shows who in your own bubble you should be wary of.

Luckily, Mastodon makes it easy to create similar functionality (you can contribute on GitHub). Enter your account handle, enter other account’s handle, compare your bubbles.

Caveats:

• This only works with Mastodon accounts, not with accounts on Pleroma or Friendica servers for example.
• No comparison is possible if any of the accounts hides their social graph.
